Welcome/Introduction

Mithunan originally hails from Markham, Ontario and completed medical school as well as internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto. He is an incoming PGY5 and chief resident in the University of Toronto Adult Hematology program. In his spare time, you can find Mithunan riding his bike or watching Formula One.

Dr. Salima Ramdani, McGill University
Introduction to CHS

Dr Salima Ramdani is a PGY4 hematology resident at McGill University and the current chief hematology resident at the Canadian Hematology Society. She was the past site chief resident at the Royal Victoria Hospital and finished her internal medicine training at McGill University. She is passionate about medical education and has been involved in multiple projects during her training.

Dr. Renee Potashner, University of Toronto
CHS Medical Education/Quality Improvement grant

Renee is an Advanced Academic Fellow in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at The Hospital for Sick Children. She is currently enrolled in the MSc in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety program at the University of Toronto and recently completed the Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership certificate program at Harvard Medical School. Her clinical focus is in benign and malignant hematology, and she is interested in improving patient care through quality improvement initiatives and optimizing the use of digital tools within the electronic health record.

Dr. Catherine Biggs, UBC
ALPS and CVID

Dr. Biggs completed her Pediatrics Residency and Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital followed by a research fellowship and MSc at UBC. She is a pediatric immunologist at BC Children’s Hospital and is co-director of the Primary Immunodeficiency Transition Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dr. Biggs is a clinician-scientist whose research program studies inborn errors of immunity (IEIs), aiming to enhance diagnosis and care of IEIs from birth to adulthood.

Completed medical student and residency training at Queen’s university, followed by working at Southlake for 2 years where I had a mixed malignant and general hematology practice. Currently completing a fellowship in Hemostasis at U of T.

Dr. Christopher Cipkar , University of Ottawa
Monoclonal Gammopathies of Clinical Significance

Dr. Christopher Cipkar is a malignant hematologist with a focus in plasma cell disorders. He completed Internal Medicine and Hematology training at the University of Ottawa and a fellowship in plasma cell disorders at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. He currently resides and practices medicine in Ottawa, Ontario.
