Dr. Helena Dhamko is an Assistant Professor and clinician teacher in the Department of Medicine, practicing outpatient general hematology and thrombosis at the Toronto General Hospital. Dr. Dhamko received her medical degree from the University of Ottawa and completed internal medicine and hematology residency at the University of Toronto. She has a Master’s of Science in Community Health (MScCH) from Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. Dhamko serves as the hematology rotation coordinator for PGY1-PGY3 internal medicine residents at UHN and also coordinates the hematology rotation for transition to residency fourth year medical students and other clerkship electives. She is the Competency-by-Design (CBD) lead for the PGY4-PGY5 Hematology residency program at University of Toronto. She also co-leads an annual, national practice OSCE for hematology residents in Canada. She is passionate about teaching at all levels of medical training in both clinical settings and formal teaching sessions.
Dr. Laura Habib
Dr. Laura Anne Habib completed a bachelor’s degree in Honours Biology in 2009 and medical undergraduate training in 2013, both at McGill University. Following her residency training in Internal Medicine at McGill University in 2016, she completed two years of hematology residency training at the University of Toronto as well as a one-year fellowship in Malignant Hematology with a focus in Myelodysplasia at the Odette Cancer Centre. She has a Master of Science in Community Health (MScCH) from Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. Habib joined McGill in 2020 as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine, and was also appointed as an Associate Member in the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology. She practices at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre where her primary clinical focus is malignant hematology. She was appointed as a Co-Program Director for the McGill Hematology Residency Program in 2022. This is her 5th year coordinating the National Hematology Resident Retreat OSCE exam as a Co-Lead.
