Dr. Baker is an Associate Professor and Clinician Teacher in the Department of Pediatrics at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine in Toronto, Canada.
She is a Staff Hematologist and Pediatrician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto (Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine), and an Associate Staff Hematologist (Division of Hematology-Oncology) at Sickkids.
Dr. Baker’s clinical practices include general pediatric hematology, young adult hematology, perinatal care of babies born to women with bleeding disorders, and newborn medicine. Her main clinical and academic area of interest is neonatal hematology, with a special interest in perinatal immune disorders such as fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) and Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn, particuarly rhesus hemolytic disease (Rh Disease).
Dr. Laura Wheaton is a staff physician in Pediatric Haematology/Oncology at Queen's University and the Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Wheaton is a graduate of Western University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in General Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa (CHEO) and her fellowship training in Pediatric Haematology/Oncology at the University of Toronto (Hospital for Sick Children).
Her work in pediatric haematology/oncology includes benign haematology and oncology clinics, and consulting and care of inpatients with haematologic and oncologic diagnoses.
Dr. Wheaton also has a Masters of Science in Community Health (MScCH) in health practitioner teacher education from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She has been actively involved in teaching medical students and residents on a broad range of general pediatric and pediatric haematology/oncology topics, as well as taking on the role of Assistant Program Director of the Queen's Pediatric Residency Program in 2022. Her research interests include clinical trials in pediatric oncology, pediatric palliative care and medical education.
